Built on Referrals,
Not Advertising.

Marcus started in the trades as an apprentice carpenter right out of high school, working under a residential contractor who had zero patience for sloppy work. That early discipline stuck. Over the next decade, he picked up plumbing basics, electrical rough-in, drywall finishing, and exterior work — not from a course, but from doing it alongside people who'd been doing it for thirty years. ILM Handyman launched in 2013 with no advertising budget and one goal: do work good enough that the last customer calls the next one.

Marcus runs his business on a short set of rules: show up when you say you will, give an honest number before you touch anything, and if something isn't right, come back and fix it without an argument. Flat-rate quotes aren't just a sales line — they're a commitment that what you hear on the phone is what you'll see on the invoice. That approach has kept him booked through referrals alone for more than a decade, and he's proud of it.

Marcus was born and raised in Wilmington. He knows the neighborhoods, the building quirks of coastal construction, and what Wilmington weather does to wood, paint, and rooflines over time. He buys lumber from local suppliers, refers clients to local specialists when a job is outside his scope, and shows up at community events because this is where he lives, not just where he works. When you hire ILM Handyman, the money stays local — and so does the accountability.

Three Values. No Exceptions.

Honesty

We tell you what a job costs before we start — and we tell you if something is outside our scope. No inflated quotes, no surprises at the end, no work added without a conversation first.

🔨

Craftsmanship

Every job gets the same level of attention whether it's a $200 repair or a $2,000 deck rebuild. We don't cut corners because corners are exactly where people look.

Accountability

If something we did isn't right, we come back and fix it. No excuses, no fees, no argument. Our reputation is built on what happens when things don't go perfectly — and we treat those moments like what they are: an opportunity to prove it.
